The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. Not a happy book, but it is beautiful. It’s a book about the Holocaust, so it’s sad, but beautiful written, from the POV of death. I read it for a Children’s Lit class, it’s a late middle school-high school level, but I recommended it to my sister and she also loved it. I know you won’t regret reading it!
I started this book because it came so highly recommended, but didn’t finish it. I think I just wasn’t in the mood at the time. Since then, I’ve taught my Holocaust unit for the first time, and have a better understanding of the literature that is available in the genre for middle school students. My students love this book as well. Thank you for your recommendation!
Read it last year and loved it. We did read it in our Book Club on my recommendation. I’m looking at the possibility of actually visiting Guernsey next summer.

Ohhh…I thought The Book Thief was the best book I’ve read in YEARS. Amazing and innovative.
